Overview

Before knowing diverticulitis you need to understand what is a diverticula.
Diverticula are the tiny, balloon-structured bags that form flings in the large intestine or colon of your digestive system.

The disease is more common than you think and is usually found in aged people 45 years and above. However, it can affect people of any age.

When diverticular occurs the situation is called diverticulosis. When the bags of the diverticula starts swelling and infectious, that situation is called diverticulitis or colon diverticulitis.
